KASHGAR,China,April 14,2025 -- On April 10,the first phase of the sub-photovoltaic power generation and energy storage system of the Yingjisha 500 MW photovoltaic project developed by the Northwest Institute of CLP Engineering was officially commissioned and connected to the grid of the Kashgar Power Supply Company. This marks the first grid-connected photovoltaic project in the Kashgar region for 2025 and signifies a critical milestone in the project's implementation.
The operational capacity of thephotovoltaic power generation system has reached 47,800 kilowatts, with an accompanying energy storage system integrated into the grid at a scale of 50,000 kilowatts / 100,000 kilowatt-hours. The operational scope encompasses four 35-kilovolt transmission lines. During the early stages of the project,The State Grid Kashgar Power Supply Companycollaborated closely with the project team to ensure rigorous quality supervision, data verification, and pre-commissioning testing in accordance with established standards. All relevant indicators have met design specifications, all necessary approvals have been obtained, and the system is operating safely and stably.
As a large-scale integrated demonstration project combining "photovoltaic power generation + sand control" in Kashgar,Xinjiang, the project has a total planned installed capacity of 500 MW,with a supporting energy storage capacity of 200 MW / 800 MWh. Following the commissioning of the first phase,it is expected to deliver over 120 million KWH of clean electricity annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 98,000 tons, and enhance the ecological environment in southern Xinjiang through comprehensive measures such as sand fixation using photovoltaic arrays and vegetation restoration.
Currently, the subsequent phases of the project are progressing systematically. Upon full completion, the project will significantly bolster the clean energy supply capacity of southern Xinjiang, provide a model case for "photovoltaic + sand control" ecological governance, and support Xinjiang's green and low-carbon development as well as rural revitalization efforts.
