The substrate is the basic material for the manufacture of PCB, which has the functions of conduction, insulation and support.
In recent years, as the demand for miniaturization of electronic equipment has increased, electronic components such as NTC thermistors embedded in substrates with built-in components are becoming smaller and thinner. It will be placed on a substrate with built-in components, filled with insulating resin and embedded in the substrate. Generally, the electrical connection between the embedded NTC thermistor and the wiring is made through via electrodes. For example, the external electrode of the NTC thermistor is irradiated with a laser to form a through hole, and the through hole is filled with a metal conductor to electrically connect the external electrode and wiring of the NTC thermistor.
However, in the case of using a conventional NTC thermistor, when a through hole is formed with a laser, in order not to damage the thermistor body of the NTC thermistor, the external electrode must be accurately irradiated with the laser. Therefore, when the laser is irradiated, very accurate position accuracy is required for the NTC thermistor, which leads to the complexity of the manufacturing process of the electronic device. As a result, Mintron Electronics provides an NTC thermistor for substrate embedding that does not require very accurate positional accuracy when forming a through hole with a laser, and a manufacturing method thereof.

The NTC thermistor for embedded substrate is characterized by:
A thermistor body composed of a ceramic sintered body and having two opposite main faces, two opposite side faces, and two opposite end faces;
A plurality of internal electrodes are formed in the thermistor body; two external electrodes are formed on the outer surface of the thermistor body and electrically connected with the plurality of internal electrodes.
The external electrode has: a first electrode layer covering one end surface of the NTC thermistor body; respectively formed on one main surface of the NTC thermistor body, one end is in contact with the first electrode layer, and the other end A second electrode layer consisting of at least one layer extending in the direction of the other end surface; and a third electrode layer covering at least one of the first electrode and the two electrode layers.
