Located in Adana province, the plant is located next to the Mediterranean Sea and has a total installed capacity of 1.32 million kilowatts.
As Turkey’s first thermal power plant without a flue-gas stack, the plant is equipped with advanced environmental protection and ultra-supercritical power generation techniques, leading to less coal consumption and pollutant emissions in the country.
The plant, a key project linking the Belt and Road Initiative with Turkey's "Middle Corridor" -- a development vision of Turkey -- is expected to produce about 9 billion kWh of power annually upon completion.
It will be a major power source of Adana and play a role in boosting economic and social development in the country.
At the open day event, SPIC also released a report on the project’s social impact during construction, which included fulfillment of social responsibilities and contributions to local ecological environmental protection and sustainable development.
In recent years, SPIC has developed overseas projects in 46 countries including Brazil, Chile, Malta, Pakistan and Australia, with a total installed capacity of 6.06 million kW, 70 percent of which deliver only clean power.
