The 3rd China-Europe Freight Train Spring Festival Fair opened in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, on January 21, 2026, bringing together over 100 international students, local families, and business owners to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Spanning both outdoor and indoor venues with over 50 stalls, it displayed global flavors including Kazakhstan flour and snacks, Georgian wine, and premium imported grains and oils alongside traditional Shaanxi delicacies.

International students at the fair expressed genuine delight at the experience. A student from Turkmenistan surnamed Risalat remarked on the diversity of how different cultures celebrate the Spring Festival. “It’s interesting and enjoyable today because it’s my first time to make Chinese noodles” she explained, mentioning how she’d discovered Shaanxi's renowned noodle culture whilst mingling with locals.

Kyraubayev Zhoshykhan, the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Xi’an saw deeper significance of the event. He noted that China and Kazakhstan share the Silk Road as part of their common heritage, and events like this help strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries. The fair, he added, drew plenty of Kazakhstani traders and students, turning cultural celebration into genuine connection.

Aiju Grain and Oil Industrial Group, the company behind the event, explained they aimed to go beyond its role as a food supplier. By organizing this event, it hopes to introduce high-quality products from Silk Road countries to everyday Chinese tables, whilst also helping international audiences understand Chinese culture better.
